Police Increase Patrols Following Four Residential Burglaries In Fairfield County Town

Police in a Fairfield County town are warning residents to make sure their homes are secure after four residential burglaries in four weeks.

New Canaan Police Chief Leon Krolikowski said the burglaries began on the first day of October and ran through Friday, Oct. 29.

The burglaries include:

  • Friday, Oct. 1, around 9 p.m., the department investigated a residential burglary of an unoccupied home on Butler Lane. This home did not have an alarm system. A rear glass door was broken to enter the home. An initial report is that jewelry was stolen.
  • Friday, Oct. 8, officers responded to a reported burglary around 7:30 p.m. of an unoccupied home on Hoyt Farm Road. A rear glass door was broken to enter the home. An alarm was activated at the residence, which caused responding officers to discover the burglary. An initial report is that jewelry and handbags were stolen.
  • Friday, Oct. 8, at 8:30 p.m., the department investigated a residential burglary of an unoccupied home on Juniper Road. A rear glass door was broken to enter the home. This home did not have an alarm system. An initial report is that jewelry, cash, and a passport were stolen.
  • Friday, Oct. 29, at 6:50 p.m., the department investigated a residential burglary of an unoccupied home on Middle Ridge Road. A rear patio glass door was broken to enter the home. An alarm was activated at the residence, which caused the burglary to be discovered. An initial report is that nothing of value was stolen.

Krolikowski said Darien is experiencing similar burglaries.

These burglaries are under active investigation.

New Canaan police have increased patrols to catch these criminals, the chief added.
